Care & Maintenance Guide
Habikon Care & Maintenance Guide
At Habikon, our furniture is engineered for durability and long-term ergonomic support. To ensure your seating remains in peak condition for years to come, we recommend the following care and maintenance routines.
1. Upholstery Care
Different materials require different care to maintain their look and feel.
- Mesh Chairs: * Vacuuming: Use a soft-brush attachment to vacuum the mesh regularly. This prevents dust and skin particles from settling into the weave.
- Spills: Blot (do not rub) spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. If needed, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap.
- Leatherette (Faux Leather):
- Cleaning: Wipe down weekly with a soft, damp microfiber cloth.
- Avoid Chemicals: Never use harsh detergents, alcohol-based cleaners, or wax, as these can cause the leatherette to crack or peel over time.
- Fabric Chairs:
- For deep stains, professional upholstery cleaning is recommended. Avoid soaking the fabric, as moisture can seep into the foam and cause odors.
2. Mechanical Components
The moving parts of your chair are the heart of your comfort.
- Gas Lift (Hydraulics): Do not attempt to open or oil the gas cylinder yourself. If the height adjustment feels "sticky," ensure no debris is blocking the lever. (Remember, your gas lift is covered by our 2-Year Warranty).
- Casters (Wheels): Dust and hair can get trapped in the wheels, preventing smooth movement. Periodically flip the chair and wipe the casters with a damp cloth or use compressed air to clear out debris.
- Tightening: With regular use, screws can loosen. We recommend checking and tightening the bolts under the seat and armrests every 6 months to ensure structural stability.
3. Frames and Bases
- Aluminum & Chrome Bases: Use a dry cloth to buff away fingerprints and maintain the shine. For stubborn spots, use a dedicated metal cleaner applied to a cloth first.
- Plastic/Nylon Parts: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive scouring pads which can scratch the surface.
4. Laminated Surfaces & Writing Pads
Many of our training and seminar chairs feature high-pressure laminate (HPL) writing pads designed for heavy-duty use. To keep these surfaces looking new:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with a mild soap solution. Wipe the surface and then immediately dry it with a separate clean cloth.
- Avoid Moisture Seepage: Never leave standing water or wet cups on the writing pad. Moisture can seep into the edges of the lamination, causing the wood underneath to swell or the edges to peel.
- Scratch Prevention: While our lamination is scratch-resistant, avoid using sharp objects or abrasive scouring pads directly on the surface.
- Mechanism Care: For chairs with foldable or "swivel" writing pads, ensure the movement path is clear of debris. Do not force the pad into a folded position; if it feels stuck, check for loose pens or paper jammed in the hinge.
- Weight Limit: Writing pads are designed for notebooks and laptops. Avoid leaning your full body weight on the pad, as this can strain the bracket and misalign the folding mechanism.
5. Important "Do’s and Don’ts"
- Do Not Stand on the Chair: Our chairs are designed for seating only. Standing on the chair can damage the gas lift and poses a safety risk.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to harsh Karachi sunlight through windows can fade fabrics and weaken plastic components over time.
- Weight Limits: Ensure the user does not exceed the specified weight capacity of the chair model to prevent mechanical failure.
